mondoBIOTECH holding AG (SIX: RARE) nominates new Board Members for election in its Board of Directors
Stans/Palo Alto - March 30, 2010 - At the meeting of 30th March 2010, the Board of Directors of mondoBIOTECH holding AG (SIX: RARE) nominates Prof. Geoffrey West, Prof. Roland M. du Bois, Robert E. Patterson and Mr. Graf Francis von Seilern-Aspang for election as new members of the Board. The election will be discussed and decided at the General Assembly of mondoBIOTECH holding AG scheduled on 30th April 2010.

Prof. Geoffrey West is Distinguished Professor and former President of the Santa Fe Institute (SFI). He is a visiting Professor at Imperial College in London and a Fellow at the Said Business School, Oxford University. Prior to joining the Santa Fe Institute as a Distinguished Professor in 2003, he was the leader and founder of the high energy physics group at Los Alamos National Laboratory, where he is one of only approximately ten Senior Fellows. He received his BA from Cambridge University in 1961 and his doctorate from Stanford University in 1966, where he returned in 1970 to become am member of the faculty. He was named SFI President in July 2005. Geoffrey West is a theoretical physicist whose primary interests have been in fundamental questions in physics and biology, ranging from the elementary particles, their interactions and cosmological implications to universal scaling laws and a unifying quantitative framework of biology. His research areas include metabolic rate, growth, aging, sleep, cancer, and ecosystems. He has recently been working on extensions to an underlying theory of cities, companies and long-term sustainability; problems include rates of growth and innovation, and the accelerating pace of life. He is the author of several books and a Fellow of the American Physical Society. Among recent awards are the Mercer Prize, Ecological Society of America; the Weldon Memorial Prize for Mathematical Biology and the Glenn Award for Aging research. His work was selected as a breakthrough idea of 2007 by Harvard Business Review and he was selected for Time magazine's list of "100 Most Influential People in the World" in 2006.

Prof. Roland M. du Bois is Professor of Medicine at National Jewish Health in Denver, Colorado and Senior Clinical Investigator at Imperial College, London. He is also a member of the American College of Chest Physicians, European Respiratory Society, American Thoracic Society and British Thoracic Society. His research areas are the genetics of chronic fibrosing lung disease, cellular and molecular biology, autoimmunity/rheumatology, environmental and occupational diseases, and interstitial lung diseases (ILD)/pulmonary fibrosis. Prof. du Bois is involved in: the development of a rheumatological lung disease program to define the clinical and molecular phenotypes of lung disease that occur in the context of rheumatological disease; a program of research into hypersensitivity pneumonitis across the divisions of Pulmonary Medicine and Occupational and Environmental Health Sciences, studies into the genetic background to fibrosing and granulomatous lung disease in the Center for Genes, Environment, and Health. In each of these endeavors, a common goal is to bridge basic and clinical science into a bonded multidisciplinary translational research program with the patient at the core.

Robert Edward Patterson is an experienced and highly-regarded venture capitalist based in Northern California. In addition to receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Physics from the University of California at Los Angeles, Mr. Patterson attended the Stanford University School of Law, receiving his Juris Doctor in 1972. As a corporate lawyer with a 35 year tenure at Squire, Sanders and Dempsey, specializing in high technology venture investing. Robert E. Patterson is an expert in the field of legal issues associated with health care and bioinformatics. Mr. Patterson’s long and illustrious career includes serving as board member and director of numerous biotechnology and pharmaceutical corporations, including Medical Research Inc., MARC Analysis Research Corporation and InPro Biotechnology Inc. Since 2001 Mr. Patterson has been a founding partner of Peninsula Equity Partners, investing in bioinformatics businesses and early stage health care. Current board directorships include Factor Technology Group, SynZyme Technologies LLC and Sumida Corporation.

Graf Francis von Seilern-Aspang is a very experienced financial expert. He has worked in Spain, South Africa, Austria, Italy and Switzerland. Since December 2009 he is the CEO of Industrie & Finanzkontor.

These new candidates would join the already existing and powerful Board of Directors with Prince Michael von und zu Liechtenstein, Prof. Dr. Robert Huber, Prof. Dr. med. Thomas Cerny, Prof. Michael Alan Keller, Giovanni Cusmano, Vera Cavalli and Fabio Cavalli.

Hans Rudolf Schnieper and Christoph Rentsch have declared their intention not to stand for reelection to the Board.
